A 51-year old woman remains in jail after her 16-year old son served a liquid containing the date rape drug at a party last Saturday night. Lois Krause is being held on charges of aggravated battery with $100,000 bond. Her son, whose name is being withheld, is also charged with aggravated battery, but was released to a relative.
Police found three 14-year old girls unconscious on Krause’s driveway, “bleeding from the nose and in respiratory distress.” 911 operators were called when the girls began vomiting after drinking eight glasses of the liquid “Invigorate.”
Invigorate contains gamma-hydroxybutyrate, or the “date rape drug.” Krause’s son claims he bought the liquid at a health food store, believing he and his friends could get drunk without the odor of alcohol.
One of the girls is in serious condition, another is in stable condition, and the third has been treated and released.
