Planned Parenthood is holding a National Day of Solidarity tomorrow, December 5, in the wake of the recent violence at Planned Parenthood’s Colorado Springs clinic, in San Bernardino, and across the country.
The event is being cosponsored by over 40 organizations including the Feminist Majority Foundation, National Organization for Women, National Abortion Federation, SEIU, People For the American Way, SisterReach, and Ultraviolet.
In announcing the event, Planned Parenthood wrote:
One of the lessons of the tragedy in Colorado is that words matter and hateful rhetoric fuels violence. We are calling for an end to the inflammatory rhetoric that has vilified and fueled attacks against not only Planned Parenthood and abortion providers, but also the black community, immigrants, refugees, and the transgender community.
On National Day of Solidarity, we stand united against violence. We stand together against attacks in our communities. And we #StandWithPP. Join and invite your friends to show your support for access to safe reproductive health care — including abortion.
While the main events are in Washington, DC and Colorado, more local events are being planned as well. Check out the Facebook page for more information!
