New Poll Shows Gender Gap in Presidential Race

A new USA TODAY/Gallup poll released yesterday shows that there is currently a wide gender gap in the presidential race.  President Barack Obama currently has an eighteen point advantage with women voters over Romney.  Overall, the poll shows that President Obama currently has a nine point lead over Republican candidate Mitt Romney.  According to the poll, women under 50 have shown the biggest change in support since mid-February and support the president 2-1 over Romney.

Twelve states that have been identified as critical swing states were surveyed – Colorado, Florida, Iowa, Michigan, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Wisconsin.  The poll has a margin of error of plus or minus four points.  The survey was taken between March 20 and March 26 and was based on a sample of 933 registered voters.
