Last week, the NORTHEASTERN ILLINOIS FMLA co-sponsored a guest speaker for the weeklong Equity in Action Program hosted by the Dean of Academic Development. Guest speaker Dr. Laila Farah is a guest professor at DePaul University who uses her own experiences as a woman of Middle Eastern descent to expose the system of institutionalized racism that she finds prevalent in the United States, especially in a post-9/11 society. The event was also co-sponsored by the campus Women’s Services, Women’s Studies Department, and Criminal Justice Department.
