Operation Rescue announced yesterday that they will continue to target Leroy Carhart, MD, a Nebraska abortion provider. Operation Rescue plans to seek an investigation of Dr. Carhart’s Bellevue, Nebraska, clinic by the state Attorney General, Jon Bruning.
Dr. Carhart was a close friend and colleague of Dr. George Tiller, who was murdered May 31st at his church. Dr. Tiller was one of the few late abortion providers in the country. Dr. Carhart provided late abortions at Tiller’s clinic, Women’s Health Care Services, in Wichita, Kansas.
Dr. Carhart announced last week that he will begin performing some late abortions at his Nebraska clinic as long as the procedures fulfill the requirements of Nebraska law. KETV 7 Omaha reported that Carhart said, “I don’t want to have more than three months go by before we’re providing services somewhere…As long as I get referrals from other doctors that say the fetus is not viable, then it’s my intent to take care of those patients.”
