Post-Pregnancy Centers Flourish in South Korea

Recently, post-pregnancy centers have become increasingly popular in South Korea. The centers, which cost approximately $400-$500 U.S. per week, are said to provide new moms with lavish pampering.

Mothers and newborns come straight from the hospital to the center, staying anywhere from a few weeks to a few months. Women use this time to relax, read, listen to music, and enjoy several meals each day.

A spokeswoman for M&B Post Pregnancy Center, Lee Chung-Eun, said, “We find that the period right after giving birth is very important to the new mother. She is affected in so many ways later in life by what type of care she gets during this time.”
