Religious Coalition Exposes Domestic Terrorism Against Women

The Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice (RCRC) ran advertisements yesterday in The Hill and today in Roll Call highlighting the similarities between global terrorists like the Taliban and Osama bin Laden and anti-abortion extremist domestic terrorism. Specifically, the ads point to both groups’ misuse of religion to justify their horrific crimes. While connecting the philosophies of these two groups, the ads also document acts of violence against abortion providers, women’s healthcare clinic personnel, and patients, including 7 murders, 17 attempted murders, 42 bombings, and 557 anthrax threats. “Like other extremists who cloak themselves in religion, anti-abortion zealots are certain God wants them to terrorize and even kill for their beliefs,” said Reverend Carlton Veazey, RCRC President. “Tragically, America is now feeling the kind of fear abortion providers and women have long known.”

The Feminist Majority Foundation runs the oldest and largest National Clinic Access Project in the country, serving independent clinics. Learn more about anti-abortion extremist violence as well as the recent anthrax threats on abortion clinics throughout the nation on feminist.org.
