Solar Eclipse Deters Conception in Cornwall, England This Month

Doctors in Cornwall, England are pinning up notices for women in their offices. They are urging women to refrain from becoming pregnant this month due to a rare solar eclipse that will occur nine months from now.

The Local Medical Committee of Cornwall issued the notices due to their fear that women will find it difficult to reach a hospital through the traffic-filled streets and crowds of people expected in the area during the rare total solar eclipse in Cornwall next year. Officials estimate that up to 2 million people will descend on the town, which will provide the best view of the eclipse.

“We don’t want to pour cold water on things, but people should realize that they could be very vulnerable,” said Rosalind Winter, committee spokesperson.
