Students Sue School for Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual Harassment

Lesbian, gay and bisexual students are suing their San Francisco school for not enforcing the school district’s own anti-harassment policies geared toward protecting students from harassment due to sex or sexual orientation. The teenagers, four girls and one boy, are supported by the American Civil Liberties Union and the National Center for Lesbian Rights. Charges of harassment and abuse date back to 1991 and include gay-bashing that led to broken ribs, homophobic remarks made by a teacher, and messages painted on student’s lockers that were not removed for weeks.
