On January 22-23, 2003, student leaders from across the country will gather in Washington, DC to strategize for abortion rights on the 30th anniversary of Roe v Wade, the Supreme Court decision that gave all American women the right to safe, legal abortion. At the Never Go Back Student Leadership Conference: Mobilizing Youth to Save Abortion Rights, pro-choice students from across the country will strategize together new ways to protect reproductive rights for future generations. Major leaders of the women’s rights movement will address the conference, including: Gloria Feldt – Planned Parenthood, Kate Michelman – NARAL, Kim Gandy – NOW, Dr. Jane Smith – Business and Professional Women USA, and Eleanor Smeal – Feminist Majority Foundation.
The Never Go Back campaign will educate and mobilize abortion rights advocates through a 12-state tour, a massive grassroots campaign, and a virtual celebrity tour online. Among the celebrities who have signed on to the campaign are Ashley Judd, Camryn Manheim, Amy Brenneman, Laura Dern, Gillian Anderson, Kathy Najimy, Tyne Daly, Cybil Shepherd, and Morgan Fairchild.
