Texas Man Arrested For Threats Against Abortion Clinic

The FBI arrested Plano, Texas, law school graduate Erlyndon Joseph Lo on Saturday, after he filed a lawsuit against the nine Supreme Court justices for $999 trillion and demanded a ban on abortion. According to the Raw Story, Lo also demanded a restraining order against the police while he “use[d] deadly force to defend the innocent life of another human being” at an abortion clinic. Lo served as his own attorney, asking the court for $1,000 an hour in attorney fees. The Associated Press reports Lo claimed his religious beliefs entitled him to use deadly force to prevent abortion, and on April 2, he gave the name and address of a late abortion clinic, the Southwestern Women’s Surgery Center, where he planned to be at noon that day. Rachel Maddow, host of MSNBC’s The Rachel Maddow Show, said in a segment, “[Lo] has been charged with transmitting an interstate communication containing a threat and using a threat of force to intimidate the employees of a reproductive health services provider. That last one is a law that only exists because of the organized and extreme long-standing anti-abortion movement in this country, a portion of which preaches force and intimidation to get what they want.” According to the Associated Press, there has not been a connection made between this threat to abortion providers and the actions of Roeder of Kansas, who was sentenced to 50 years with no parole on April 1 for the murder of late abortion provider Dr. George Tiller.
