Two Additional Companies Pull Ads from Limbaugh Show

Two additional companies (AOL and Tax Resolution) indicated that they will pull their ads from the Rush Limbaugh radio show. Limbaugh offered an additional apology to Sandra Fluke on his radio show yesterday after calling her a “slut” and a “prostitute” and suggesting that she post videos of her sexual activities online. Limbaugh stated, “Those two words were inappropriate and uncalled for. They distracted from the point I was actually trying to make and again I sincerely apologize to Ms. Fluke for using those two words.” Limbaugh made no reference to his other on-air comments about Fluke.

Last week, the conservative radio show host sharply criticized Sandra Fluke, the Georgetown Law School student who was not allowed to testify at a House Committee hearing on the religious exemption on contraception coverage and women’s health. Limbaugh remarked on his radio show, “What does it say about the college [sic] co-ed Sandra Fluke, who goes before a congressional committee and essentially says that she must be paid to have sex? It makes her a slut, right? It makes her a prostitute. She wants to be paid to have sex.”

Thousands of supporters of women’s healthcare have spoken out in the days since to stand with Sandra and all American women, with many asking for the firing of Limbaugh. See our Campus blog for an updated list of sponsors of the Rush Limbaugh show.
