Yesterday, Scotland Yard officials arrested two men said to be conspirators with Osama bin Laden in the August 1998 bombings of U.S. embassies in Kenya and Tanzania.
Bin Laden is accused of masterminding the bombings, which killed a total of 224 people — including 12 Americans — and injured more than 5,400. Ibrahim Hussein Abdel Hadi Eidarous and Adel Mohanned Abdul Almagid Bary were arrested and accused of conspiring with bin Laden in planning to murder American citizens that August.
In addition to bin Laden, seven other people accused of participating in the bombing remain at large.
During a press conference last week, a spokesman for the Taliban acknowledged that the fundamentalist regime had indeed been harboring bin Laden since the bombings. The Taliban had previously denied knowledge of his whereabouts for several months.
