The U.N. Office for Coordination of Humanitarian Assistance to Afghanistan (UNOCHA) on Monday warned that the Taliban offensive in the Shomali region north of Kabul will likely result in a humanitarian crisis. Thousands of Afghans were forced out of their homes and into the Panjsher valley by the Taliban and supply routes for aid have been closed due to factional fighting. “Unless some factor in this equation changes, there will be a significant humanitarian disaster affecting the displaced in Panjsher,” a UNOCHA statement read.
