Walk to Raise Funds and Awareness of Osteoporosis in Miami

The second annual “America Walks For Strong Women” walk-a-thon will be held in the Miami Dadeland Mall on Saturday, September 26. The event is held to raise funds for the National Osteoporosis Foundation as well as to create awareness of the disease.

The walk totals three miles. A contribution of at least $15.00 is requested to receive a T-shirt and a goody bag. Registration will begin at 7:00 a.m. near the main entrance of the mall, followed by a ceremony at 7:45 a.m., and the race officially gets under way at 8:15 a.m.

The public may also partake in a free Health Fair in the food court of the mall between 9:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. The Fair will include information on Osteoporosis, as well as free bone density screenings.

National sponsors of the event include Eli Lilly and Co., Lend Lease, the Milk Mustache Campaign, Minute Maid Premium Calcium Orange Juice, The Osteoporosis Business Coalition, Prevention Magazine, Total Cereal, TUMS Calcium Supplement, and Yoplait.
