Webb Youngest Woman to Get LPGA Grand Slam

Sunday, Karrie Webb became the youngest woman to complete the LPGA Grand Slam, and only the fifth woman to complete the Grand Slam. She follows in the footsteps of Juli Inkster, Pat Bradley, Lousie Suggs and Mickey Wright. Although Tiger Woods holds the record for the youngest player to complete a Grand Slam (24 years old), Webb completed it in eight majors, where Tiger took 15. Winning five of her eight majors, Webb had the strongest run since Wright won five of six majors in 1961-1962. Sadly, Webb’s win was tainted by the devastating news of her grandfather’s failing health. Her grandfather and grandmother taught Webb to golf starting when she was four years old. Webb left for Australia to see her grandfather shortly after winning the tournament.
