Women and Girls’ Health Symposiums Planned for 2000

The University of California San Francisco has announced that it will host two health symposiums in Spring 2000 — one for women and one for teenage girls.

State Senator Jackie Speier will discuss “The Politics of Women’s Health in California” in her keynote address for the sixth-annual symposium. Called “Optimizing Your Health for the New Millennium,” the symposium will include sessions on women’s reproductive and sexual health, menopause, herbal remedies, how to make the most of managed care, and other topics.

A second symposium, Teen Health 2000, was designed to help girls ages 13-18 to learn more about their bodies and to start teaching them how to make informed decisions about their health.

Both one-day conferences will take place at the UCSF campus on March 20, 2000. Call 415-263-0321 to register or for more information.
