According to a study from the Center for Women’s Business Research, women-owned businesses have been an essential part of the country’s economic success and have been growing at an unprecedented rate. Between 1997 and 2000, the number of women-owned businesses with more than 100 employees has grown by more than 43%, 68% faster compared to other businesses of similar size. Women-owned firms with $1 million or more in revenues has also increased by more than 30% and have proven to be as financially powerful as all American businesses. The study also revealed that women continue to gain footholds in every industry, with the largest increase of women-owned businesses in the area of agriculture, forestry and fishing.
