Women Sues Abortion Clinic for Child Support After Anti-Abortion Violence Keeps Her From Clinic

A woman who escaped from the Preterm clinic in Brookline, MA during a 1996 attack by anti-abortion terrorist John Salvi III has sued Preterm for “wrongful birth” because her fear of future anti-abortion attacks kept her from returning to the clinic for an abortion. Salvi murdered two receptionists and wounded five others at the Preterm clinic.

Deborah Gaines charges that security at the clinic was insufficient and that the clinic should help her pay for her child’s support.

Preterm lawyer James Franchek compared Gaines to a person who refuses to fly after seeing a plane crash. “That doesn’t give you the right to sue Pan Am because you chose not to do something,” he said.
