Women’s Health Clinic in Ohio Forced to Relocate

A women’s health clinic that opened in Green, Ohio this summer will move to Akron. The clinic, which offers a range of services, including abortion services, was picketed daily by anti-abortion protesters.

Kellie Copeland, spokeswoman for NARAL Pro-Choice Ohio, told the Canton Repository that the clinic’s decision to relocate resulted from the fact that the clinic’s landlord “had become upset by protesters and, also, the clinic didn’t feel like it was the best environment for their patients.”

Mayor of Green, Dick Norton, addressed the presence of the clinic in an open letter to his constituents: “Despite the fact that many citizens strongly oppose such a facility in the city, the city has no legal basis to prevent it from being located in the city as long as it is within the proper zoning classification and secures all of the proper permits.”
