In a statement released Wednesday by the Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests, president Barbara Blaine blasted Pope Francis for his praise of US bishops’ “courage,” accusing the pontiff of doing “little if anything” to meaningfully address the Catholic Church’s decades-long sex abuse crisis.
“These meetings are public relations coups for the Vatican and distracting placebos for others. They provide temporary but false hope.”
Ultimately, if we really all are created in God’s image and equal in his eyes, all must be equal in representing him as faithful servants in his church—whichever that may be.
