The proposed law would prohibit insurance plans offered in the state from covering abortion without the rider, but the proposal also does not require insurers to offer or provide the rider.
"The United States should be at the forefront of the discoveries into how to put HIV in long-term remission without requiring lifelong therapies," President Obama said at a White House event commemorating World AIDS Day. "Or, better yet, eliminate it completely."
Women need reproductive health programs to be integrated with HIV/AIDS services, and vice-versa, for improved efficiency and effectiveness in preventing AIDS infection and unplanned pregnancy and improving maternal and child health.
Yesterday marked the 25th annual World AIDS Day, an opportunity for people around the world to unite in the fight against HIV/AIDS.
